Nancy Morrison Phillips, 88, of Statesville, NC, passed away on February 21, 2025. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28, at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, NC, with Pastor Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Park cemetery in Statesville. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home prior to the service.
Mrs. Phillips was born on February 18, 1937, in Rowan County, NC, to the late John Brown and Nanette Clary Morrison. She was also preceded in death by 7 brother and 3 sister. She graduated from China Grove High School and Mitchell College and spent her career working as a bookkeeper and computer programmer. She was a faithful member of Diamond Hill Baptist church where she enjoyed serving as a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. She also enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking and motorcycle riding with her husband. Watching UNC basketball was also one of her favorite pastimes. Her grandchildren also brought her great joy.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, Robert G. Phillips, Jr. (R.G.) of Statesville; three daughters, Donna P. Meyer and husband, Steve of Pittsboro, NC; Amy P. Sanders and husband, Jack of Carrboro, NC; Stacey P. Whaley and husband, Brad of Troutman, NC; one son, David M. Phillips of Statesville, NC; one brother, Terry Morrison and wife Barbara of Salisbury, NC; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Patty VanDorn and the team from Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for their loving and exceptional care over the past six years. They would also like to thank the staff at Jurney's of Statesville for their care of Mrs. Phillips and their compassion shown to her and her family during her last days.
