Edward "Ed" Dye Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, of Statesville passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Novant Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury. Born on December 9, 1952, in Tazewell County, Virginia, Ed lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his country. He was 73 years old.
Ed spent several years as a skilled frame builder at Thomasville Furniture in Statesville, where he was known for his craftsmanship and strong work ethic. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and talented worker who took pride in every piece he created.
In his earlier years, Ed enjoyed the great outdoors, often spending time camping and exploring nature with his loved ones. These moments of tranquility were cherished by Ed and those who accompanied him on his adventures.
A proud veteran, Ed served in the United States Army, where he demonstrated a deep commitment to his country and his fellow servicemen. His time in the Army was a point of pride that stayed with him throughout his life.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, JP Dye and Alice (Proffitt) Dye McDonald; his loving wife of 39 years, Brenda Helton Dye; and an infant son, Jimmy Dye.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Eddie Dye and Michael Dye, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Cheyenne and Daniel. Ed also leaves behind his dear sisters, Terry, Glenna, Rose, Sherry, and Cindy, who will miss him dearly.
In accordance with Ed's wishes, no services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring Ed's generous spirit and his desire to help others.
