Nancy Kay Ratts

Nancy Kay Ratts, just shy of her 90th birthday, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, while in the comfort of her home. She was born at home in Belle Union, Indiana, to the late Ivan and Nola (Neier) Vaughan.

Nancy was a proud graduate of Belle Union High School. She later went on to spend a year at DePauw University. She met and married Edwin Ratts, who survives, on April 17, 1955. They welcomed two daughters into their family.

Nancy worked in banking for over 20 years, managing the Eminence branch of Indiana National Bank at her retirement. She was proud to be a part of both the Eminence and Belle Union communities and loved supporting the local events such as fish frys and pork chop dinners.

Nancy loved the outdoors. She enjoyed tending to her flowers. She enjoyed time in the sun, whether it be on a beach or lake. She mastered the art of water skiing on one ski.

Family meant everything to Nancy. Her favorite memories and activities centered around them. Whether they were celebrating Labor Day with campouts or Christmas with family dinners, Nancy was her happiest.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Edwin L. Ratts; daughters, Nancy Shoffner (John), Julie Brock (Greg); sister, Jean Krahn; grandchildren, Steve (Andrea) Shoffner, Laura (James) Simkins, Tyler (Breanna) Shoffner, Kate (David) Murray, and Casey (Adrienne) Brock; and 17 great grandchildren.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Milhon.

Visitation is 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Mt. Tabor Christian Church, 8787 State Road 42, Monrovia, Indiana, 46157. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation with John Shoffner officiating.
