Nancy Rodney Obituary
August 8, 1942 - November 6, 2025
Nancy Carol Rodney, born August 8, 1942, in South Amboy, N.J., passed away surrounded by the love of her family. The beloved daughter of George and Nancy Shown, Nancy graduated from Keyport High School and built a life defined by kindness, devotion, and generosity.
Nancy shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, John Rodney, currently of Galloway, N.J. Together, they raised three children: daughters, Robin Rodney (husband Jeff George), Dawn Rodney (husband Jay Johnson), and son, Christopher Rodney. Nancy's family also includes her cherished brothers, George Shown (wife Sharon Shown), Thomas Shown (wife Celia Fuller), and the late Edward Shown (wife Eileen Shown); as well as her brother-in-law, Richard Rodney (wife Diane Rodney). She was a proud grandmother to six granddaughters, Jacklyn Rodney, Jennifer McCourt, Alexis Rodney, Sophia Tranchitella, Amelia Tranchitella, and Elena Tranchitella. Nancy's legacy as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend will live in the hearts of all who knew her. Known for her open-hearted spirit and her incredible Italian cooking, Nancy made everything with love. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, puzzling, and was famously tough to beat at hearts and dominoes. She will also be remembered for her life-long love of Campbell Soup Kids, the likeness of which she had tattooed on her ankle for her 80th birthday.
A viewing and memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th starting at 10 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2000 Florence Avenue, Hazlet, NJ 07730. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nancy's remarkable life and the love she shared with so many. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. John's United Methodist Church. A friend and neighbor in Englewood, Florida. Nancy will always live in the beautiful kitchen towels she crocheted for every occasion and lovingly gave to all of us. I miss out visits and chats. Rest in peace, Nancy.
