It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nancy Marie Stone Sattely, who left us peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 92.
Nancy was born on January 25, 1933, in Winston-Salem, NC-the daughter of Preston Hershel Stone and Jettie Marie Hutchens. She graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School, Winston-Salem, NC in 1950.
Nancy worked as an Executive Secretary at Duke Power Company in Winston-Salem before marrying her devoted husband, Rudolph John Sattely, in December 1967. Nancy and Rudy were married for 40 wonderful years, living in Raleigh, NC since 1970. They were long-time members of both Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Nancy was a woman of resilience and compassion. She was an amazing southern cook who read books voraciously, had an affinity for Siamese cats, and travelled extensively with Rudy to Germany, Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Canada, and Alaska. Her favorite place in the whole world was the beach on Emerald Isle, NC.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, and sisters, Ann Fifield and Martha Tuttle. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Miller (husband Preston), Paula Sattely, and John Sattely (wife Stefanie), her grandchildren, Savannah Miller, Samuel Miller, Jacob Sattely, and Sofia Sattely, and her sister, Kaye Stone.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Monday, December 15th, at 11:00 am at the Springmoor Chapel, 806 Springmoor Drive, Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to either the Springmoor Endowment Fund or Stand Up To Cancer.
A special thanks to all the nurses, nursing assistants, staff, and volunteers at the Stewart Health Center at Springmoor Retirement Community where Nancy lived and received care and support for the last 19 years of her life. The family is also eternally grateful for the care and support Nancy received from Transitions LifeCare in the final weeks of her life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bright Funeral Home, 405 South Main Street,
Wake Forest, NC.
