Nancy Scheich Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. - Sterling Heights on Jan. 12, 2026.
Nancy Lee (née Jeremias) Scheich of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Scheich, following a devoted 63-year marriage. Remarkably, Nancy passed just four hours shy of January 6, the same date John passed in 2022. Both were 84 years old at the time of their passing; however, Nancy was only two days short of celebrating her 85th birthday on January 7, 2026.

Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Florence Jeremias. She was the loving sister of Charlie (Barb) Jeremias, the late Robert Jeremias, and Richard (Jane) Jeremias.

She was immensely proud of her children and spoke of them often: Chris Scheich, Julie (Rick) Frey, Jan (Dave) Pauwels, and Davo (Anne) Scheich.

Nancy loved spending time talking with her grandchildren and keeping up with their lives. Matthew Scheich, Anthony Guzzardo (Kristen), Joseph Guzzardo (Lindsay), Marcelina Jenks (Kevin), Jacob Pauwels (Audrey), Ethan Pauwels (Rachel), Ian Scheich Bishop, and Ava Scheich Bishop all shared countless laughs and special moments with their grandmother.

Nothing brought Nancy greater joy than visiting with her great-grandchildren, whether in person or via video chats. Her face would light up with the biggest smile whenever she saw them. Carter, Grayson, and Olivia Jenks; Annabelle and Tessa Pauwels; and Eliana and Abigail Pauwels all held a very special place in her heart. Nancy was thrilled to learn that great-grandchild number eight is expected in July 2026 and will undoubtedly hear many stories about Great Grandma Scheich.

Nancy also treasured her small but wonderful group of friends and eagerly looked forward to every opportunity to visit and catch up with them. Their friendships brought her immense joy and kept her spirits high.

Throughout her life, Nancy faced significant health challenges, yet she demonstrated unbelievable resilience and determination in overcoming them. Her strength and perseverance remain one of the greatest lessons she leaves behind.

Nancy had a remarkable talent for creating beautiful handmade items through crafting, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. If you could imagine it, she could make it. Anyone who knew Nancy undoubtedly received something unique and lovingly handmade by her. We are certain she is already crafting something special for the angels in Heaven.

Nancy will be cremated at this time. In the spring, her children will lay her ashes to rest alongside John's in a family plot.
