Pierre Lacharite Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chas. Verheyden, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Clinton Township on Jan. 23, 2026.
Pierre Ronaldo Lacharite "Frenchy" (1946-2026)

Pierre Ronaldo Lacharite, 79, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026. Born on June 2, 1946, to Charles and Julliette Lacharite in Val d'or, Quebec, Canada. Pierre was one of twelve children. He is survived by his three sisters Lucienne, Marie Jeanne, Jeannine, and two brothers Denis and Daniel. Pierre was a loving father to his three children, Michelle (Steven) August, Donny Lacharite, and Suzanne (James) Gray. He was also a caring grandfather to Tessa, Skylar and Braden.

Pierre came from humble beginnings living on a farm with his family in Canada. From this he learned the value of hard work often consisting of long days tending to the animals, helping with the crops all while also attending school during the day. In his early adult years, he told stories of taking odd jobs such as picking tomatoes until he found his career working at Chrysler. His co-workers nicknamed him "Frenchy", and it has stuck with him ever since. Pierre retired from Chrysler in October of 2007 after working 35+ years as an Experimental Painter.

Pierre always considered being a father to his three children one of his greatest accomplishments and joys in life. Whether it was working two jobs so we could attend a private catholic school from K-8, attending baseball/softball, volleyball, basketball games. He was always there when we needed him. Even if he didn't always agree with our decisions, he never said I told you so. As a dad he knew we had to make our own choices and learn from them. It was also very helpful having a father who could fix cars, especially when they break down.

Pierre thoroughly enjoyed being a grandfather to three wonderful grandkids. Some of his favorite time spent with them involved summer camping trips, Halloween and two houseboat trips where he even went down the waterslide because why should the kids get to have all the fun! Pierre loved nature and enjoyed sharing this with them. He would point out animals to them so that they could appreciate them in their natural habitats.

Pierre also loved to travel! While working at Chrysler he was able to travel around the US. He was part of a team that would help set up for the various auto shows. After retiring he extended his travels to the Caribbean Islands, escaping for a few weeks each winter. Some of his travels included Aruba, Antiqua, Anguilla, Barbados, Couzmel, and St. Maarten. Many winters after that he would travel in his RV to different parts of Florida or Myrtle beach for a month or two to avoid the cold.

Frenchy the avid fisherman, hunter, good neighbor, friend, brother, father, and grandfather. Though he will be greatly missed by all who knew him, may peace be found in the countless memories that will live in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers the family asks if you feel the desire, you can make a donation in his name to A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue (www.rejoycefulrescue.com) as Pierre loved animals especially his beloved dogs Sparky and Callie.

Pierre has a special place in my heart. He was so many things... Funny, sincere, hardworking, creative and most of all a family man. He loved his children and grandkids unconditionally. Loved to travel and fish. Had great stories from his childhood and after. He had a special place for his boy Sparky who 's loss was felt deeply. I am so thankful I got to know him. So sorry for your loss Michelle and Suzanne. Linda
