Michael Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chas. Verheyden, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Clinton Township on Feb. 15, 2026.
Michael Lee Wilson, a unique soul known for his wit and humor, passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 75, in Clinton Township, Michigan, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 12, 1950, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Michael was a man of intelligence and love, and possessed a heart filled with the warmth of a thousand suns, touching the lives of all who knew him.

Michael led a life of dedication, both to his family and his career. He is survived by his son, Brent, his grandson, Julian, and his brother-in-law, Paul. His memory will be treasured by the family and friends left to honor his legacy. Though his parents, William and Rosemary Wilson, his beloved wife, Alana, and his siblings, Sandy (the late Eddie) and Pamela, preceded him in death, the love and lessons they shared with Michael continue to resonate through the family.

An alumnus of Wayne State University, Michael's pursuit of knowledge was a lifelong endeavor. His career as a technical writer at TACOM was marked by professionalism and a meticulous approach to his craft. Colleagues respected him for his expertise and his ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity and precision. Michael also played a major role supporting Brent's decision to also pursue a career at TACOM, and bore the burden of significant college tuition costs, which were provided without hesitation to the best of his ability.

When Michael met his wife Alana, he knew that was the person he would spend the rest of his life with. They married on September 29, 1972 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, and welcomed their son Brent in December, 1984.

A man of many talents and interests, Michael had a passion for automobiles that went beyond the ordinary. He spent countless hours building kit cars, working on cars, building car models, and restoring classics to their former glory. His hands were often stained with grease, a testament to his labor of love.

Michael's home and cottage were another canvas for his creativity and meticulousness, where he could often be found working on various projects, ensuring everything was in perfect order and "by the numbers".

Music was another of Michael's great loves. The sounds of Pink Floyd, ELO, Duran Duran, Jimi Hendrix, and The Moody Blues filled the spaces of his workshop and home, igniting his spirit and fueling his creativity. His profound appreciation for music was evident to all who visited him, as he would often share stories and trivia about his favorite bands and songs.

Michael was a provider and an empath, always quick to sacrifice his wants for the greater good of his family and friends... and always quick to apologize and make amends. He wore his heart on his sleeve and embraced humility and hardship openly. His vulnerability was a testament to his devotion and selflessness.

Though he has departed from this earthly realm, the echo of his laughter and the wisdom of his words will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2026, 3-7 pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 43300 Garfield Rd., Clinton Township, Michigan 48038. Michael will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11am at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Rd., Clinton Township, Michigan 48038.
