Richard Arthur (Peach) LaCharite
Richard was born at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam CT on August 15, 1953 to Arthur and Lucille Chabot LaCharite.
Richard graduated from St. John's Grammar school in 1967 and from Plainfield High School in 1971. He played basketball, ran cross country, and played softball.
After graduation he was employed at Baltic Mills in Versailles, Pervel Industries, Brand Rex in Willimantic, Plastic Wire and Cable in Jewett City, working part time at Frito Lay, then finally at Foxwoods Casino for 26 years where he retired in June of 2021.
Richard met his wife Cathy Donato on a blind date in 1974, then married on October 21, 1977. After 47 wonderful years, they are still one.
After retiring, Richard had a few wonderful years with his wife Cathy until Alzheimer's set in and then went to Davis Place Nursing Home in Danielson, CT until his passing on January 19, 2025.
Richard was very active in the American Legion, Moosup CT under the Sons of the American Legion. He participated and contributed to the many community activities that the American Legion was involved in. After more than 35 years of making popcorn, as only Richard could do, he ironically passed away on National Popcorn Day!
Richard's love was DJing because of his love of music and having cookouts in their backyard for family and friends. He also loved bowling and once appeared on TV.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, many aunts and uncles and one niece, Lindsay Jean LaCharite.
Richard is survived by his wife Cathy of 47 years, his brother Roger and girlfriend Ednora Linares of FL, his brother Roland and his wife Lyn Comtois LaCharite of CT, and his sister Renee and her husband Wayne Williams of CT along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 1:30pm to 4pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025 with a Memorial Service being held at 2pm during calling hours at the Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Rd.,
Plainfield, CT.
