Nancy T. (Schulz) Wierda, 68, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, in Missouri.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Milbank, SD. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at the Milbank Community Center.
Nancy Terese (Schulz) Wierda was born on July 9, 1957, in Milbank, SD, to Donald and Leona (Schreiner) Schulz. She was a beacon of compassion and dedication throughout her life. Nancy cherished her roots and grew up in the Milbank area, where she received her early education at Grant-Deuel School and graduated with the Class of 1975.
Pursing her passion for caring for others, Nancy attended Sioux Valley Nursing School, graduating in 1978. She devoted more than a decade to the nursing profession, serving as a skilled nurse until 1988, then advancing her career as a Head Nurse from 1988 to 1994. Nancy later became a Nurse Advocate, a role she performed with great distinction until her retirement in 2020, embodying the spirit of care and advocacy for her patients.
Nancy was a devoted single mother until June 12, 1982, when she was united in marriage with Brad Wierda in Milbank. Their union was blessed with two additional children.
Having an adventurous spirit, it brought her to live in various locations, including Sioux Falls and Brandon, SD; Blaine, MN; Raleigh, NC; Rapid City, SD; Newton, IA; Muscatine, IA; Independence, MO; and finally, Lee’s Summit, MO.
Left to cherish Nancy’s memory are her children: Eric (Loana) Wierda of Kissimmee, FL; Arielle (Kiever) Dyess of Raytown, MO; and Luke Wierda of Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren: Cyrena (Dominic) St. Germaine of Kissimmee, FL; Savannah Wierda of Cody, WY; and Kanaan Dyess of Raytown, MO; two great-grandchildren: Hailey St. Germaine, and Amelia St. Germaine; brothers: Tim (Lois) Schulz of Green Valley, AZ; and James (Linda) Schulz of Independence, MO; sister, Karen Amodei of Independence, MO; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Donald and Lee Schulz; and brothers: Thomas Schulz, and Donald Schulz, Jr.
In honor of Nancy and the loving care she received, memorials will be donated to Silverado Memory Care.
