Nancy D. Smith

Nancy D. Smith, 88, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Jefferson Hospital. A daughter of the late Dr. Gordon E. Dannels and Lavada Hesselgesser Dannels, she was born April 4, 1937 in Swissvale. Formerly of Belle Vernon and Swissvale, Nancy had been a resident of Centerville for 62 years. She was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church, the D.A.R. Ft. Necessity Chapter, and the American Association of University Women. Nancy was also an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting, cooking, and baking. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Steven Zgela of Jefferson Hills; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Christina Smith of Palmerton; four grandchildren, Hanna (Cameron) McGee of Lehighton, Devon (Cody) Moyer of Palmerton, Stephanie (Douglas) Finley of Allison Park, and Gordon Zgela of Elizabeth Township; and a great-granddaughter, Rory Moyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Dr. A. Gerald Smith.
