Nancy Hammons Spradlin, 71, of Sharpsburg, GA, passed away peacefully from a long illness on August 22, 2024.
She is preceded in death by her parents David and Nina Hammons, sister Nina Johnson, and first husband Bill McClellan.
Nancy was born March 17, 1953 in Memphis, TN. At the age of 8 her family moved to Huntsville, Alabama where she graduated from Lee High School. She went on to Jacksonville State University where she earned a Masters in English. Graduating from college in 1976, she got a job as a Librarian/Media Specialist with Summerville Middle School in Summerville, GA where she worked for 16 years. Afterward, she became a State Farm Agent filling in for her ill first husband.
Nancy married Ira Cecil Spradlin, Jr. of Sharpsburg, GA August 1, 1998. They have been married 26 years.
Nancy is survived and loved by her husband, Ira, and stepchildren, Scott (Leslie) Spradlin of North Wilkesboro, NC, Lara (Kirk) Dial of Fayetteville, GA and Amy Amor of Sharpsburg, GA; many loving grandchildren, Victoria Spradlin, Kadi (Jeremiah) Vrudny, Hannah (Greg) Maple, Jake Dial, Rebekah Spradlin, Kara Dial and Alessio Amor; great-grandson Atticus Maple; and beloved nephew, Bobby (Jessica) Johnson of Huntsville, AL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Whitewater Creek Neighborhood Clubhouse at 165 Birkdale Drive Fayetteville, GA 30215, on August 31, 2024, at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. (Come in the main entrance, turn right at the pool, and the clubhouse is located beside the pool.)
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to The Salvation Army or The Red Cross.
