Nancy Sudano Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home and Event Center - Du Quoin on Nov. 19, 2025.
Nancy Joyce (DuRall) Sudano, age 86, of Du Quoin, passed away peacefully at 10:15pm on Monday, November 17, 2025 at Fairview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Du Quoin.
She was born Saturday, April 1, 1939 in Carbondale, a daughter of Charles Edward and Ruby Violet (Ralston) DuRall. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Edward Sudano, Sr. in Carbondale on February 28, 1959. He preceded her in death April 8, 2002. Together, they shared more than forty-three years of marriage and precious memories.
Nancy, a pillar of love, strength, and devotion, has left an indelible mark on many lives. Affectionately known as "Grandma" to all, she embodied warmth, kindness, and generosity. Her homemade fries were a favorite treat, and her presence was a gift.

A proud graduate of University High at SIU, where she was a majorette, Nancy's life was a testament to her values. She put family first, graduating in three years to support her parents, and went on to build a remarkable life.

Her career as a phone technician with AT&T was a testament to her problem-solving skills and dedication. She was always happy to lend a helping hand, fixing phones and offering sage advice.

Nancy's greatest joys were her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

A woman of many talents, Nancy was a skilled craftswoman, handy with tools, and could fix anything. She took pride in her appearance, always looking polished and put-together, and instilled in her family the importance of couth and manners.

She was a force to be reckoned with - hard-headed and stubborn, but you always knew where you stood with her. And she made sure you knew you were loved, unconditionally. Her tough exterior hid a heart of gold, and her love and loyalty will be remembered for generations to come.
Despite her strength and resilience, Nancy's greatest pleasure was simply getting in the car and going for a drive. She cherished her independence, gained when she finally got her driver's license at 40, and savored every moment behind the wheel. She enjoyed attending church with her family, when she was able.

Nancy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and a deep devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her family is grateful for the time they had with her and will strive to carry on her legacy of kindness, love, and generosity.
She is survived by her daughter- Kimberly Terdina of Herrin; son- Philip Charles Sudano of West Chicago; grandchildren- Nicole (Shannon) Harris of Du Quoin, Kenneth (Kaycee) Sudano of Porterville, CA, Andrew (Krystal) Sudano of Porterville, California, Lindsey (John) Price of East Liverpool, Ohio, Tonya (Eddy) Terdina of Herrin, Thomas (Kayla) Terdina II of Wellsville, Ohio; seventeen great grandchildren- Jordan, Kennedi, Tallen, Nevaeh, Gryphen, Brennon, Hailey, Cooper, Lauren, Jaymen, Corben, Caleb, Mason, Declan, Lillian, Benjamin, and Colbie; one great great grandson- Baby K due in December; son-in-law- Thomas Terdina of East Palestine, Ohio; daughter-in-law- Maria Sudano of Porterville, California; first cousin and best friend- Jean Harris of Du Quoin; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members; and her beloved cat- Maury.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Kenneth Edward Sudano, Sr., son- Kenneth Sudano, Jr., two great grandchildren- Harper Sudano and Owen Speck, brother- Terry DuRall, and sister- Phyllis DuRall.
Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Service details will be announced here as they become available.
