Nancy Katherine Thompson was born February 11, 1925, and departed this life Saturday, July 20, 2024, reaching the age of 99 years. She was the daughter of the late Siebert J. McNeal and Irene (Roberts) McNeal.
She married Elwood Yancey “Packy” Thompson and to this union three children were born.
She is survived by: one daughter, Janet Wheeler (Dennis) of Monticello, KY; one son, Steve Thompson (Karen) of Wheatley, KY; two granddaughters, Amy Maas (Scott) and Alana Thompson both of Lexington, KY; and one great grandson, Benjamin Maas of Lexington, KY; along with the Thompson and McNeal nieces and nephews. She is also survived by: her caregivers, Patricia Tucker, Brenda Abbott, Tammy Bell and Linda Whited; a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 71 years, Packy Thompson; one infant daughter, Patricia Thompson; and one brother, James Roberts McNeal.
Katherine accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member of the Dallasburg Baptist Church and the Hispanic Ministry of Wheatley.
She loved to cook and have family gatherings. Whenever you visited you could never stay long enough. She worked alongside her husband on the farm and as a cook at the Fairway Golf Club.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, between 2:30 pm – 5 pm in the chapel of Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2024, between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Dallasburg Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26, 2024, at 3 pm at Dallasburg Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Dallasburg Wheatley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY, www.hospicelc.org, or Hispanic Ministry of Wheatley, KY.
