Nancy Virginia Toms

DURHAM: Nancy Virginia Weaver Toms, 84, passed away at her home in Durham, NC on October 7, 2023 following years of declining health. She was born in Washington, DC to the late Virginia Catherine Cole Weaver and the late Joseph Martin Weaver. She is survived by her daughter Mollie Catherine Rebecca Toms of Durham; grandchildren Charles Abbott, Samantha and Jan Buckley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Toms was preceded in death by her husband of six decades, John Kenneth Toms, as well as her aforementioned parents, her stepfather, Frank Loman Farr, and her sisters, Mary Weaver McLaughlin and Shirley Elaine Goliwas.
Mrs. Toms exhibited unwavering dedication to her family, assuming the role of caregiver to numerous individuals over the years, consistently extending her assistance to those in need. She possessed exceptional culinary skills, maintaining a meticulous household, and providing compassionate care to those she served. Her gentle demeanor and kind-hearted nature earned her the admiration of all who knew her.
Nancy worked many years alongside her beloved, Ned, at Crisfield's Seafood Restaurant in Silver Spring, Maryland, until their retirement. In 2005, they relocated to Durham when her health began to deteriorate.
A service in honor of Mrs. Toms will be conducted on October 14th at 2 pm in the chapel of Clements Funeral Home in Durham, North Carolina.
