Nancy McGinnis Veeder

Nancy McGinnis Veeder, age 83, of Roy Eaker Rd. died Monday, July 7, 2014 at her residence. She was born on January 29, 1931 in Gaston County to the late Lawrence Lloyd and Brooks Clawson McGinnis. Nancy was a lifelong member of First Wesleyan Church and active in the Wesleyan Women. She graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University and spent 30 years as a teacher in elementary education, including Carr Elementary in Dallas. Nancy was a member and past president of the American Legion Womens Auxillary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George David McGinnis. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Gerald L. Veeder; daughters, Pam Maze (Chris) of Richmond, VA, and Teresa Agner (Doug) of Cherryville; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Luke, and Lauren Maze, Brooke Christian (Clayton), and Ben and Betsy Agner; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Ellie Christian, and Elizabeth Agner. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 5:30 PM at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Mark B. Poe officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 5:15 PM at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church Van Fund, 800 N.
