Nancy Walsh

Nancy (Mihalich) Walsh, 75, of East Haven, passed away on December 7, 2025. She was born on September 13, 1950, in New Haven to John Anthony Mihalich and Marguerite (Kirk) Mihalich.

Nancy is survived by her son Michael John Walsh (Louise) of East Haddam, her daughter Kimberly Verna Walsh of Waterbury, and her daughter Kelly Marguerite Walsh of Hamden. She is also survived by her sisters, Susan Bond (Jim) of Hamden and Cynthia Mihalich of Ansonia, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her older sister, Margaret Kennedy.

Nancy found joy and peace in reading and listening to music throughout her life. She faced many challenges, but lived by the words, "This Too Shall Pass." Throughout her life, she offered prayers for others who were experiencing struggles. She was a compassionate pet owner rescuing many furry friends throughout the years through the East Haven Animal Control shelter. Most of her career outside the home was spent working in the offices of Yale Ophthalmology and later as a receptionist and Assistant to the Director at Yale University Press, where she worked for 23 years. Nancy was very proud to be affiliated with the esteemed university .

Her sisters have sweet childhood memories of Nancy when they were kids. Nancy loved dancing, and the young girls loved singing together, including harmonizing to songs by Peter, Paul & Mary, and The Mamas & The Papas while washing dishes after dinner. Hearing "I Want To Hold Your Hand", by the Beatles over the radio was a transcendent moment for her . She even saw Jimi Hendrix perform live. The sisters, along with their mom and dad, also cherished time at Chatfield Hollow State Park, a place that remains special for her family for its peace and beauty.

Childhood friends remember Nancy as being a kind, sweet, and caring kid growing up going to Indian Neck School in Branford, and they recall fondly times in the neighborhood with shared birthday parties as well as roller skating, bike riding, and singing songs together from songbooks.

Nancy treasured visits to Branford Point Park and Beach, one of her favorite places. Her kids, nieces, and nephews remember Nancy bringing them to "The Point" as kids where they would swim and explore nature for hours and hours during the summer and fall seasons. She fully appreciated the beauty of New England's four seasons.

Her family fondly remembers her delicious "Spanish rice", as well as her famous baked beans with bacon, all varieties of whole grain homemade breads , applesauce, coleslaw, MEAT LOAF, and her spice cake that she would bring to Easter and summer gatherings. Her nieces and nephews remember that Aunt Nancy had beautiful handwriting, a skill admired in a time when penmanship was a true art.

In later years, Nancy was a devoted friend to her sister Margaret when it most mattered, often driving her to the East Haven Senior Center for companionship during Margaret's battle with dementia.
