Funeral services for Nancy Janice Whitmore, 69, of Broaddus, will be held Friday, September 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Broaddus Pentecostal Church in Broaddus with Bishop Mark Green and Pastor Jathan Green officiating. Interment will follow at Sowell Cemetery.

Nancy was born on May 21, 1956, in Harris County, Texas, to the late Alton Lee Sowell and Patsy Norine (Hathcoat), and passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, September 20, 2025, at her home in Broaddus, with her husband by her side.

Nancy was a woman of remarkable warmth, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. She spent her life in service to others, the advice she offered without judgement, and the steady, unconditional love she gave. She was warmth, love, and comfort wrapped into one beautiful soul. She was a proud member of the Broaddus Pentecostal Church and through the years had a great love for shopping, word searches, and spending time with friends and family.

Nancy was married for 24 years to her devoted husband Micheal Whitmore, who survives her. Together they built a life rooted in hard work and love. She was a proud mother of two children. Daughter; Melissa Marshall and Son; Lloyd Marsh, Jr. from a previous marriage.

She is survived by her husband, Micheal Whitmore; daughter, Melissa Marshall; grandchildren, Candice Marshall, Roy Marshall, Jr. and Dallas Reppond; brothers, Michael Sowell and Curtis Sowell; along with a host of great-grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, John Bennefield; son, Lloyd Marsh, Jr.; and brother, Charles Sowell.

Pallbearers will be Roy Marshall, Jr., Micheal Whitmore, Chris Sowell, Bubba Sowell, Aiden Sowell, Roy Edward Marshall, Sr., David Reppond, and Hunter Ponder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mauricio Garcia.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
