Nancy Jean Coggins Williams, 84, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center.
Born on February 22, 1941, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Doris Mills Coggins. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her devoted husband, David Earl Williams.
Nancy is survived by her son, Dr. David Brian Williams, and son-in-law, Tyler Phillips, of Charlotte, NC; her very special Swedish daughter, Karin Samengard Boberg, and husband, Stefan, of Stockholm, Sweden; her brother-in-law, Dr. Ben Williams of Burlington, NC; sister-in-law, Rachel Williams of Rocky Mount, NC; and her loving nieces and nephews, all of whom adored her deeply.
A proud graduate of East Carolina University, Nancy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Chi Omega sorority, and she served as president of the Jaysettes. A true southern belle, Nancy was also a runner-up for Miss North Carolina-a reflection of both her grace and charm.
Nancy devoted her life to education, teaching elementary school in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year. She poured her heart into every classroom, inspiring young minds and shaping countless lives with patience and care.
Nancy and her beloved husband, David, shared a lifelong love for creating a beautiful home together on Round Hill Road in Greensboro. She took great pride in their home and gardens, which reflected her impeccable taste, warmth, and attention to detail.
She will be remembered for her elegance, her wit, her devotion to family and friends, and her unwavering dedication to her students and community.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 2 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary in Greensboro, NC with a visitation held one hour prior in the Virginia Gilmer Room. Interment will follow to Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network, 8653 NC Highway 65, Stokesdale, NC 27357.
