On December 11, 2025, Nancy Miller Wright died at home following a 4 1/2-year battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. She was 78 years old.
Nancy was the daughter of Ruth and Henry Miller of Lexington, NC. She was married for 55 years to Dr. Gordon Wright, also of Lexington. Surviving are a brother, H. Thomas Miller and his wife Carolyn of Durham, NC; two daughters, Mrs. Amy Wright Hill, and husband Mark, of Durham, NC, and Mrs. Jacqueline Wright Schechter, and husband Drew, of Apex, NC. She also leaves behind four adoring grandchildren, Thomas and Eleanor Hill and Elyse and Zoe Schechter.
Nancy’s life was spent in service as a teacher of special needs students, as a volunteer at Lexington Memorial Hospital’s cancer center following her own battle with breast cancer in 1987, and as a member of the board of advisors of the Duke Cancer Institute and the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
The family will have a private service.
