Nancy Zier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Benson & Langehough Funeral Home & Cremation on Jan. 2, 2024.
Nancy Ann Zier, age 70, of Northfield, passed away on December 28, 2023, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.
Born on August 2, 1953, in Danbury, CT, Nancy's life was a vibrant melody composed by her loving parents, Vernon and Mary (Azevedo) Zier. She twirled through life's stages with the same passion she brought to the dance floor, leaving a trail of laughter and generosity in her wake.
Growing up in Miami, FL, Nancy was the life of every party and the soul of her family. She graduated from Miami Norland High School with dreams as high as her bell-bottoms. Nancy's adventurous spirit led her to enlist in the Air Force, where she served her country with the same fervor she served up disco moves. Stationed in Chicksands, England, she added a touch of American groove to the British scene. After four years of service, including a stint with the Minnesota National Guard, Nancy traded her uniform for an apron, working in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
Later in life, Nancy pirouetted back into the classroom, earning an associate's degree in Psychology. She was as passionate about understanding the human mind as she was about mastering the latest dance craze. Her love for literature was only matched by her love for animals, especially dogs, who all seemed to know they'd found a kindred spirit in her.
Nancy was a disco dancer at heart, but her soul was pure rock 'n' roll. She was as musical and artistic as she was adventurous and generous. Words like passionate, adventurous, and generous only scratch the surface of Nancy's essence. She was a comet streaking across the sky, lighting up the night with her exuberance and leaving us all a little starstruck. Her laughter was a symphony, her kindness an art form, and her spirit a testament to the joy of living life to the fullest.
Nancy's curtain call came in Northfield, but the show of her life will go on in the stories told, the memories cherished, and the lives she touched. She didn't just read the script of life; she wrote her own, with a flair for the dramatic and a punchline always at the ready. So, let's not say goodbye to Nancy Ann Zier. Instead, let's find comfort in the echo of her laughter, the warmth of her generosity, and the rhythm of her dancing feet. After all, legends never truly leave us; they simply take their final bow and exit stage left, leaving the audience forever changed and eternally grateful for the performance. Curtain down, disco ball off, but the beat, dear friends, goes on.
Nancy is survived by her sisters, Marie Schubert of Raleigh, NC, Kathy Seaborn of Northfield, Karen (Mike Crank) McMullin of Auburndale, FL, Ella Zier (Jeanne Smith) of Winterhaven, FL, and Shelley (Chip Curcio) Caulder of Winterhaven, FL; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eileen Pierce, Susan Jacobs and Vern Zier.
Nancy will be cremated and laid to rest in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

That picture is exactly the woman I met in basic training. We had many laughs and a longtime, loving friendship.
So sad she's gone. As the obit said, loved laughter, dancing, singing, playing guitar ( with me on harmonica!). She introduced me to Jimmy Buffet long before anyone else knew him.
We got tattoos together in San Francisco.
We lived together in Mpls, and had a grand time, with many friends. Dancing at the Women's Coffeehouse every Saturday night.
Going to Guard weekends together.
I was delighted to witness her enjoying her very first snowfall--in Texas, of all places!
You were a dear woman, Nance. Or, better known around here..."Miami".
