Narrell Dene Sheppard, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025.
She was born on September 11, 1935, in McCamey, Texas, to Curtis Clifton and Marie Elizabeth (McElroy) Choate. On April 14, 1954, she married the love of her life, Billy Mac Sheppard, in Big Spring, Texas. Together they raised three daughters and a son, building a life filled with love, laughter, and perseverance. For 43 years, Dene proudly built a successful career with Mary Kay, achieving Directorship and embracing every opportunity the company offered.
Dene was the embodiment of optimism. She approached life with a glass-half-full perspective, always ready to uplift others with her wisdom, warmth, and wit. She never missed a chance to spark a meaningful conversation or speak confidently to a room full of listeners. A successful saleswoman, natural provider, and social dynamo, Dene had a gift for making everyone feel seen and supported. Her advice was legendary, and her work ethic unmatched-she was a role model to many and a true force of nature in the lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Inman (Mark) and Connie Poulson (Bob); her son, Scot Sheppard (Stacey); and her beloved grandchildren: Drew Plagens (Mollye), Tyler Sheppard (Chelsea), Lauren Flowers (Lane), Spencer Plagens (Brittany), Heather Sheppard (Terrance Sullivan), Cody Sheppard (Shasta), Zachary Inman, and Chris Sheppard (Allison). Dene was also blessed with 21 great-grandchildren, and a lively circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and her friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mac Sheppard; her daughter, Teresa Sheppard; son-in-law, Douglas Plagens; brother, Jerry Choate; and sister, Sharon Pearson.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Robert Lee Care Center and Hospice of San Angelo for their outstanding and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring, TX, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at First Methodist Church of Big Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Robert Lee Care Center, P.O. Box 1209, Robert Lee, TX 76945 or Hospice of San Angelo, 933 University Avenue, San Angelo, Texas 76904.

"On Silver Wings"
I have a premonition that soars on silver wings,
It is a dream of your accomplishment,
Of many wondrous things.
I do not know beneath which sky,
Or where you'll challenge fate.
I only know it will be high,
And that one day,
You'll be GREAT!

She was such a kind and compassionate person, and she was surprisingly funny. I loved listening to her teach and share her knowledge and experiences in life and in Mary Kay. She will be missed but she will be long remembered. Was honored to be in Bible study with her.
