Natalee Keser Obituary

Natalee Andrea Keser was born November 14, 1980 at Saint Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Her parents were 27 years old, a pair of young professionals. A three-year-old sister, a dog, and two cats waited for her at the home on the outskirts of Howards Grove, tucked between woods and cornfields. It was a Friday, and a waxing crescent moon.

A third joined the first friends in 1985, and Natalee became the middle of a sister sandwich. There were books and Barbie mohawks, dress up and shared cookie dough beaters, clam shell collecting and ice skating along the Pigeon River. They defined themselves in contrast to one another, as siblings do – the shy one, the glamorous one, the nature lover – but they complemented each other just as well. After graduation from New Berlin West high school, their lives separated geographically, but Natalee never let a sister on either side drift too far from her center.

Natalee's beauty, her dazzling smile, her unrestrained laugh, and her spicy spirit made her impossible to overlook in a crowded room. She disliked crowds and attention equally, with exceptions made for a few fortunate people. She had close friends in addition to her large extended family. The kids in her life felt her adoration very literally. She was a rib-crushing professional hugger. They relied on Aunt Natalee to bring endless energy and play. They whispered their secrets in her ear. She was all in for every moment with them.

Natalee was a talented self-taught home chef who brought the best foods to family gatherings. She read zillions of novels, was steadily advancing her education in Spanish language and social services, talked of places she wished to travel, and certainly had a hundred thousand other wishes for her life. We do not get to know all of Natalee's dreams. She guarded her own secrets and even her inner circle was often in the dark. She loved and was loved. We tried our best to make her feel it.

Natalee left us on December 18, 2022, at the age of 42. She has joined her grandparents, John and Corona Keser, and Edward and Genevieve Rice; her uncle Michael Keser; and her aunts Shelley and Christine Rice. It is immensely comforting to think of them enjoying each other now. Those missing her here are her parents, Jack and Rosalee Keser; her sisters and their families, Sarah, Kevin, Noah, Greta and Magdalene Hanson, and Lindsey, Kes'ava and Wrenna Dernovsek; and many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends. It was a Sunday, and a waning crescent moon.
