Natalie Marie Haywood Lee, age 49, of Concord, left her husband's arms and entered the arms of Jesus on Saturday, November 15, 2025, after a fifteen month battle with cancer. She was welcomed into Heaven by her maternal grandparents, W.T. and Lucille Crowder and paternal grandparents, Homer Haywood and Vivian Motley Haywood.
She grew up attending Providence Baptist Church in Williamson. Her grandmother's spiritual influence had a long-lasting imprint on her. Natalie gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized later in life. She taught the 4-5 year old class during Sunday School at her church. She continued to look to Him and His strength throughout her life and attended Mount Olive Baptist Church for many years.
Natalie was born on March 17, 1976, to Don Haywood and Dee Haywood in Griffin, Georgia. She was raised there and graduated from Griffin High School and then continued her education at Griffin Technical School to receive her cosmetology degree. Natalie worked as a hairdresser at Hair 220 in Barnesville for several years and then returned to school to complete a nursing degree from Flint River Technical School. Afterwards, she decided to follow her passion in cosmetology and worked for Bankston's Salon as well as her grandmother, Vivian's home salon.
In October of 2001, Natalie established 19 North Salon & Spa in Zebulon. There, she flourished for twenty-three years as the owner and hair designer for her beloved clients. They were her friends and family that she held close to heart. She valued them and always made them feel like each one was the most important person in the room. Along with her talent for beauty, Natalie's warm smile and kind heart welcomed clients from seven counties; some of whom have been loyal for all twenty-three years. Natalie would often visit her older clients at home to fix their hair as well. The salon staff were her extended family and she loved them dearly.
Natalie would often take care of her nieces and nephews, "Aunt Nat" being her favorite title as she adored them. She was a member of Middle Georgia Cycling and made many lifelong friends while road biking. She completed many races such as the Tour De Pike and even a one-hundred mile race. You could often hear Nat talking about her adventures accompanied by her family and friends. Her travels reached as far as New Zealand, Australia, Wales, England, Costa Rica, Canada, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, and many U.S. States. Even amongst all of these places, the beach was always her favorite place to be.
Natalie started dating her true love, Michael Lee, in May of 2019, after he returned home from contracting in Afghanistan. Their first date was a trade, Nat teaching him how to plant tomatoes and him taking her flying. In 2020, Michael proposed and in sixty days, they were married on a beautiful December day. Natalie enjoyed riding with Michael, her favorite pilot, as he did air acrobatics in his plane. She loved riding in his old truck on dirt roads, as the smell reminded her of her grandfather's truck and her childhood.
Cooking and entertaining her friends were Natalie's forte. Every dish was scrumptious and prepared with love. If she heard that any of her friends, family, or clients were sick, she would immediately go into her kitchen and prepare a warm meal to deliver to them. She never met a stranger and would always look out for someone she may know in a store. She'd ask how they were and how their family was doing. Her genuine love for others is the best testament to Natalie's heart.
Natalie leaves behind her devoted husband and extraordinary caregiver, Michael Lee, who lovingly and attentively stayed by Natalie's side during her illness. Also included are her parents, Don Haywood and Dee Haywood Brown (Eddie); sister: Jennifer Brisendine (Tripp); nieces: Claire and Camille Brisendine; nephew: Griffin Brisendine; aunt: Sandra Recker; uncle: Billy Lawrence; several loved cousins and dear co-workers: Preet Kaur and Dawn Kelly; so many precious friends, family, and clients.
Funeral services for Natalie Lee will be held on Thursday, November 20, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Griffin, Georgia. Pastor Mark Harris and Pastor Phillip Cook will be officiating. A private family burial will take place after the service.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, November 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.
Flowers will be received, but if you would like to make donations in Natalie's memory, the family encourages outreach to Georgia Baptist Children's Home (Meansville), Five Loaves & Two Fishes Food Pantry (Griffin) and Rushton's Hope (Griffin).
