Silas Nathan Charles "Norm" Merrell, 32, of Town Creek passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at UAB Hospital Birmingham. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 05, 2023 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Mitchell Hallmark and Pastor Owen Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Fergason Cemetery in Town Creek.
Born on January 18, 1991 to William and Tina Agee Merrell, Jr., Nathan attended the Lawrence County Dream Center in Town Creek. He worked as a pipefitter with Local 760 and enjoyed coaching his kids in sports. Obsessed with his "boom boom" system, Nathan loved music and was willing to help anyone in their time of need. He loved to tell jokes, especially the corny ones, spend time with his family, and could talk to just about anyone at anytime. He never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife Jessica; children, Joshua Merrell, Nathanial Merrell, Joshua H. Merrell, and Dominic Merrell; sister, Kailyn Merrell; brother, Nicholas Agee; his parents; grandfather, Charles (Sherry) Agee, grandmothers, Virginia Agee; Lottie "Nanny" Horton; mother and father-in-law, Greg and Brenda Flanagan; brothers-in-law, Dakota Horton and Dylan Flanagan; sister-in-law, Ella Grace Flanagan; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tennis Oliver; and grandmother, Carolyn Oliver.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Merrell, Dakota Horton, Dylan Flanagan, Ike Agee, Kolin Agee, Hayden Frost, and Ben King. Honorary pallbearers are Nathanial Merrell, Justin Mears, and Branden Agee.
The family extends special thanks to the CICU staff and nurses at UAB and all the friends and family who have helped in so many ways.
