NATHAN MESFIN Obituary
It is with great sadness that his family announces the sudden passing of their beloved son,Nathan Mesfin on Wednesday February 26, 2025.
Nathan was born in Asmara, Eritrea on February 11, 1988 to Lucia and Mesfin. He was their firstborn. He brought joy, love and unity to his parents' two large families. He was nurtured with love and grew up amongst two doting grandparents.
Nathan finished elementary and middle school in his native city Asmara and came to Minneapolis in 2005 where he finished his high school. In the summer after his high school graduation he moved to Matteson Illinois, attending college and working part time.
Nathan moved to Chicago to join his sister, Niath who had recently moved to the U.S. from Eritrea. Nathan pursued his education at the University of Champaign, Illinois and graduated with an electrical engineering degree in 2014.
Nathan has worked in his field in several large companies in Chicago, Arizona and his latest in Washington D.C.
Nathan was beloved by his large family and numerous friends and he devoted himself to their welfare, acting as adviser, mentor, helper or just a shoulder to cry on. He has touched many lives of youth and adults alike by walking his faith influencing many people in Ebenezer Church Washington D.C. He was able to meet everyone at their level regardless of age and status, leaving a legacy of living right with people and with God. As the bible said, The righteous perish, and no man takes it to heart; merciful men are taken away, while no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil. He shall enter into peace; they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness", a young lady, member of his bible study group in Ebenezer Church Washington D.C. tearfully said "I wish my ending be like Nathan's"
Nathan loved life and nature. He enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities like skydiving, white water rafting, skating and hiking.
Nathan's life was tragically cut short but he achieved more in terms of benefiting others than many have in their long lives. He will be remembered for his commitment to a life of love and justice.
Nathan is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus leaving behind a large family – his mother Lucia, his father Mesfin, his sister Niath and her young family and many devoted cousins, aunts and uncles.
