Nathan Sawyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery - Scottsdale on Feb. 18, 2026.
Our fond memories give us strength as we remember Nathan Thomas Sawyer, 57, who passed on

February 4, 2026.

Born July 23, 1968, in Houston, Texas, Nathan was known for his warm presence, engaging conversation, deep love of sport, and the kindness he shared so freely with others. His outgoing nature and generous heart made him a cherished friend to many.

He is survived by his beloved sons, Nathan Jacob and Benjamin Patrick Sawyer; his parents, Stephen and Leslie Sawyer; his loving sister, Suzanna Schwister (Sawyer), her husband, Rob; his nephew, Jack Schwister; and his nieces, Madeline Young (Schwister) and Brynlie Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his brother and closest friend, Adam Sawyer. We are certain they are happy to be reunited.

A natural leader from a young age, Nathan remained active in school leadership through college. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies and proudly served as Vice President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

He owned and operated an insurance brokerage and a commercial property company, where he was known for his integrity, compassion, and dedication to helping others. Nathan was a patient and empathetic businessman who earned lasting trust from his clients. The rush of a 4th quarter comeback was his idea of the height of entertainment, no matter the sport. The emotions of him and his boys would rise and fall annually with the Suns' playoff chances. Whether it was the competitiveness or the camaraderie, Nathan and his sons all gravitated towards football. In his adult years, he was a walking fantasy-football calculator and thrived during the NFL season. Above all, he treasured time spent with his two sons and his extended family.

We will miss him deeply. Special thanks to our extended family and friends for their love and compassion during this difficult time.
