Nathaniel Haynie Matthews, Jr., 53, of Kenbridge, Va joined his parents, Nathaniel Haynie “Nat” Matthews, Sr. and Gloria Arthur Matthews and granddaughter, Cora Mae Matthews in Heaven on February 25, 2026. He is survived by his children, Cierra, Cameron and Nathan, III (Holly); his grandchildren Onyx Williams and Lily Mae Matthews; his sister, Sallie Rogers (Robby); his grandmother, Virginia Matthews; uncle Jimmy Matthews; niece, Georgie Winters; nephews, BJ Jones and Riley Rogers; great-niece, Ellie Winters; great-nephew, Jaxon Winters, extended family and many friends.
Haynie grew up in Kenbridge and graduated from Central High School in 1990 where he played baseball. He was a dedicated foreman for Kenbridge Construction Company, having been employed there for the last 33 years.
Haynie enjoyed hunting, coaching girls softball and playing fantasy football. He was a devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Dallas Cowboys.
He will always be remembered for his sarcasm and his playfulness.
The family will receive friends at the Clarke Funeral Home in Kenbridge on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 2pm until start of services at 3pm.
