Nathaniel “Nathan” Colby Treece, 34, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

He was born on February 15, 1991, in Forsyth County to Beverly Smith and Donald Treece. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Miles Collins Jr., and William and Yvonne Treece.

Nathan was a graduate of Mount Tabor High School. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, attending races at Bowman Gray, cheering on UNC basketball, and supporting his cousin Jason by attending his bands live performances. Nathan was a devoted follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and attended Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Despite facing medical challenges throughout his life, Nathan embraced each day with joy, courage, and a love for others. He lived life to the fullest and created many cherished memories with family and friends.

Nathan is survived by his mother, Beverly Smith, and stepfather Jerry Smith; his father, Donald Treece; and his siblings, Morgan Britt, Taylor Britt, Natalie Smith, and Peyton Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Road, with Dr. Brad Stamey and Rev. Brian Alverson officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 21, from 6–8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
