Neal E. Baum, Sr., 73 of Central Square, passed away with his family by his side after battling many health issues. Born in Kirkville, he retired from Syracuse Plastic after 20 years. Coming from a large family of 13 children, family was the most important thing to Neal. He was a creature of habit, playing bingo every Thursday night and fish dinners on Fridays.
He would often talk about his next opportunity to go fishing. He enjoyed cooking and going out to listen to live music never missing an opportunity to dance. Neal was always about helping others in need and enjoyed the company of others, whether it was drinking coffee with friends or most importantly holiday gatherings and being with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Adeline (Landers) Baum; his beloved longtime partner, Viola Beebe; the mother of his children, Patricia Wilcox; his siblings, Jesse Baum, Weldon Baum, Mable Strong, Alberta Pond, Loretta Turner, Norma Cooter, Edna Page, Alfred Baum, and Gloria Jackson.
He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Raymond) Hare, Alice (Brian) Hare, Neal Baum, Jr.; Also left to cherish his memory is Viola’s children, Charlene (Jerry) Hagerty, Joyce Major and Homer Beebe Jr. grandchildren, Kamryn, Isabella (Joshua), Rayanna, Nicole, James, Jessica, Jennifer, Samantha, Ryan, Joshua, Jason, Justin, Kimberly, Joshua, Robert, James, Andrea, Louis, Phillip Jr., Jason, Kim and many others who called him Papa. Great-grandchildren, Leonardo and Lana; siblings, Violet (Carl) Brewer,Dawn (Glenn) Garlock, Fred (Sharon) Baum; Janet Baum and Chip Page; his recent companion, Melanie Marshall and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 4-5pm. Funeral Services will follow at 5pm.
