Neceva Davis Obituary
May 30, 1942 - January 7, 2026
Lovingly known as "Nana" and nicknamed "Sunshine," she will be remembered for her funny, kind, and giddy spirit, bringing joy and laughter everywhere. Neceva was the daughter of George Haywood and Lila Edna Sutphin Sartin (deceased), and sister of Robert Sartin, Rev. Bill Sartin and Chattie Parker (also deceased).
Neceva proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a telephone operator, where she met the love of her life, John Edward Davis, Jr. A lifelong partnership began as they nurtured the sweetest family. Neceva's faith was a steady foundation, and the number of lives she encouraged in her career at Muir's Chapel Childcare cannot be measured. She lived her life by showing up in meaningful and faithful ways.
Neceva is survived by her husband John; her children, Bonnie Davis Isom (husband, Gary), and John Edward Davis, III (wife, Heather); and her exceptional grandchildren, Taylor Marigrace Davis and Carson Haywood Davis. She is also survived by her sisters, Eva Wall and Georgianna Kendrick; along with many nieces and nephews.
Neceva found joy in the simple, ephemeral things, especially birds, music, and baking chocolate chip cookies with her grandchildren. Her voice, laughter, and gentle love will be missed, but her memory will live on in every song and in the whistling tunes of birds. We will honor Neceva by treasuring her words on December 25th when she said, "I have loved every minute of my life."
A celebration of life service will be held at Pleasant Garden Methodist Church on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Muir's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery at 3 p.m.

Today is the day of rest Neceva. I will treasure every moment we spent together lifeguarding, babysitting, visiting friends, eating tacos and fresh garden veggies. At our wedding, you thanked me for coming into your family, I know now God placed me gently into yours. You have encouraged us, laughed with us, cried with us, and celebrated each day with us. And now you fly away leaving us much better people than when you first found us. Peace be with until we meet again. Hallelujah.
