Ned Paul Rabalais, age 84, a native of Plaucheville, LA, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the Butterfly Wing Inpatient Unit of Baton Rouge General Mid-City.
Ned was a retired Chief Deputy Constable with the Baton Rouge City Constable. He was an avid vegetable gardener, enjoyed cooking, politics and traveling around the world. He was a devout lifelong Catholic and prayed the Blessed Rosary daily. Ned was always working on a “project” in his garage workshop.
Ned is survived by Rebecca Wright Rabalais, his loving wife of 64 years, daughter, Melinda Rabalais Newman (Steven), and son, James “Jim” Rabalais (Jill), grandchildren, Matthew Rabalais (Courtney), Perry Newman, and Jessica Rabalais, and great grandchildren, Marley and Asa Rabalais.
Ned is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Rose Lemoine Rabalais, and siblings, Ryan Rabalais, Donald Rabalais, Nedra Lemoine Merey, and Terrance “Terry” Rabalais.
Arrangements are as follows:
Visitation will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs, LA on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral mass at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Everette Rabalais, Odie Lemoine, Steven Newman, Perry Newman, Micah Watts, and Andrew Kimball. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, French Settlement, LA.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge for the wonderful care and support provided to Ned during his final days. Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, www.hospicebr.org.
