Neesa Ondrea Voller, 26, of Fergus Falls, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer.
Neesa was born on December 3, 1998, in Seattle, Washington. She was a proud graduate of the Fergus Falls Area Learning Center, Class of 2019. Throughout her school years, Neesa was actively involved in African drumming, Young Life, soccer, the ALC advisory board, and MAAP Stars. She also worked at various places over the years, including Pioneer Care, Pioneer Cottages, Prairie Community Services, Palm Beach Tan, and Leighton Broadcasting. Neesa also received a special honor in 2022 at the Pine Tree Apple Classic Fundraiser and was a key speaker at this event to share her story.
Known for her radiant smile and infectious spirit, Neesa had a remarkable ability to light up any room. No matter the challenges she faced, she always found a way to bring joy to those around her. Neesa's indomitable strength and resilience never stopped her from living life to the fullest. She continued to embrace the things she loved - spending time with family and friends, watching the children of her friends grow, exploring nature, caring for her beloved cats, and advocating for others. She stood for humanity and human rights, touched the hearts of every person she crossed paths with embracing the love and light that made her.
At just 15 years old, Neesa was diagnosed with Sertoli-Leydig cell cancer, an extremely rare form of ovarian cancer, which only three people in the entire world are diagnosed with annually. Through her courage and participation in groundbreaking research, Neesa has helped pave the way for future breakthroughs that will save lives. In recognition of her incredible impact, a gene has been discovered and named NEON, after Neesa Ondrea herself. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kris Ann Schultz, Dr. Peter Argenta, Dr. April Evans, Dr. Sam Milanovich, and the dedicated nurses and staff at all of the medical facilities. A special thanks also goes to Red River Hospice for their unwavering support and care, always going above and beyond to ensure Neesa's comfort and well-being.
Preceded in death by her fur babies Loon and Sock's.
Neesa is survived by her high school sweetheart, Brody Neubauer; her mother, Lisa Voller; her father, Riley Coley; her bonus parents, Doug and Maranda Gray; her brothers, Robert (CeeJay) Dorn and Jamie Dorn; her grandmother, Sandy Voller; her bonus grandfather, Melvin Sims; her aunts, Tasha Sims and J'Von Sims; and her beloved cats, Dino and Skrimp.
Neesa's journey was one of unyielding grace, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, light, and unbreakable spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers and memorials, Please plant trees in honor of Neesa.
