LAGRANGEVILLE – Nelda Marcone, 92, passed away on July 2, 2023 at the Briarcliff Manor Center for Rehabilitation after a brief illness.
Born in Italy on May 30, 1931 (June 1, 1931), she was the daughter of the late Sabato and Antonietta (Lombardi) Simone. She immigrated to the United States when she was just 18 years old and lived in the Bronx until a year and a half ago. She worked as a seamstress for many years in the Bronx.
Nelda was a faithful Catholic who was especially devoted to Mother Mary. She enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching CBS. She liked spending time in her garden and taking long walks. More than anything, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren.
Nelda is survived by her children and their spouses, Angela and John Fagan of Merrimack, NH and Louis and Rebecca Marcone of LaGrangeville, NY; her grandchildren, Mark Fagan and his wife Susan, Jake Marcone, and Grace Marcone; her great-grandchildren Victoria, Lucy, and Theodore Fagan; her siblings and their spouses, Michael and Carmelina Simone and Nunziatina and Guiseppe Castellitto; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Nelda was predeceased by her loving husband of 28 years, Luigi Marcone, in 1981; her son, Michael Marcone in 2020; her grandson, Christopher Fagan in 2001; and her sisters, Teresina Ramundo and Angelina Mastracchio and their spouses Gennaro and Nino.
