Nelda Reed Obituary
She was born August 3, 1931, in Estes, Mississippi to the late Samuel and Lola Catherine (Legan) Strickland. On March 24, 1951, she married William (Bill) Edwards, He preceded her in death on October 31, 1983.
Surviving are her three sons, Steve (Barbara)Edwards of DeLand Fl., Randy (Pat) Edwards of Franklin, In and Greg (Dawn) Edwards of LaGrange Ky; six grandchildren, Richie (Olivia) Edwards of Jacksonville, Fl, Nicole Wood of Franklin, In, Braxton (Paige), Ashlyn Edwards, Grayson Edwards and Declan Edwards all of New Albany, In, One great grandchild, Lilian Edwards of Jacksonville Fl.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Samuel Alvin Strickland, and three sisters, Edith Ramsey, Amy Klemaszewski and Catherine Speciale.
She was a 1949 graduate of Nineveh High School and proud supporter of its Alumni Association, attending many reunions over the years.
She was employed by Caldwell VanRiper in Indianapolis as Accounting Vice-President for many years. Later she was employed by Tara Treatment Center.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Nineveh and Whiteland chapters for over 45 years and held many offices including Worthy Matron.
She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Whiteland, Indiana.
A celebration of life service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 1340 E. Tracy Road, Whiteland, Indiana on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. with Visitation for family and friends on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to time of service at 5:00 p.m. at the Church. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Felber. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, November 20th, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Victory Baptist Church, 1340 E Tracy Road, Whiteland, Indiana 46184.
