Mrs. Nora Nell Broom Bearden, 84, a long-time resident of the New Town Community, departed this life on March 21, 2024, at Gordon Health and Rehab after several years of declining health.
Nell was born in Armuchee, Georgia on September 1, 1939, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Broom Sr and Mary Beatrice Pierce Broom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lon Sidney Bearden, in 2021 and by two brothers, Robert Broom and Tommy Broom.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Prior to suffering a stroke in 2015, she enjoyed attending the Gordon County Senior Center. She was a member of New Town Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy B. Cochran of Rome; son, Lonnie Dale Bearden, and his wife Donna of the Sonoraville Community; grandchildren, Mana S. (Rickey) Harris, Jake R. (Andrea) Silvers; her great-grandchildren, Brynleigh, S. Harris, Tripp Harris, Eva D. Harris, Nora Kate Harris, and Javyn Lon Silvers; her sisters, Sharon (Larry) Broom Edwards, Mary (Henry) Puckett and, Joyce A. Broom; brothers, Charles (Buck) Broom and his wife Jean, James Allen (Kathy) Broom; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The funeral will be conducted Monday, March 25, 2024, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 25th, from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour of 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nell’s memory to the Animal Rescue League of Northwest Georgia, 1384 Self Lake Road SE, Fairmount, GA 30139.
