Nell Turnage was born in Scott County, Mississippi on August 12, 1943 to her parents Flynn and Roxie Wheeler Alexander. A lifelong resident of Scott County and current resident of Lake, Mrs. Turnage was a graduate of Lake High School and was retired employee of Lackey Memorial Hospital where she served as secretary. Her work ethic was complimented by those she served as a caring professional. She will be remembered as a faithful caretaker, a woman of strength who had a selfless character, putting others before self. Mrs. Turnage prioritized her life, by her service to her Lord, as she exercised her faith, holding membership at Salem Baptist Church, her love for her family, a devoted and dedicated, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, who held a special bond and affection, for her great-grandchildren, and one who had many friends. She passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson at the age of 78.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Cecil and Billy Alexander and one sister: Frances McKee.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years: Mr. Robert A. Turnage of Lake; one daughter: Lisa (Bobby) Boyles of Lake; one son: Jason (Tracy) Turnage of Lake; seven grandchildren: Kristen (Ben) Walker; Joshua Boyles; LeAnn (Payton) Stevens; Julie (Owen) Jones, Roman (Victoria) Turnage; Shane (Kasey) Lann and Corey (Julie) Lann; nine great-grandchildren: Troy Turnage, Braiden Walker, Blaine Walker, Skylar Clark, Charlie Jones, Ayden Turnage, Brandon Lann, Peyton Lann, and Hudson Lann; one sister: Jean Usry of Flowood; several nieces and nephews also survive.
