Nellie P. Benson Carroll
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on September 4, 1941, the daughter of the late George Richard and Mamie Austin Benson.
Nellie was united in marriage to Clovis Carroll, who preceded his wife in death on September 29, 2000.
Nellie was a well known housekeeper, her home was always spotless. She worked in the housekeeping department at Hardin Medical Center and Hardin County Nursing Home. She always knew how to keep the hospital clean for the State inspections. Nellie also managed the pool hall in Savannah. She was of the Church of Christ belief.
Nellie departed this life on Friday, January 23, 2026 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 19 days.
She is survived by her two children, Myra Willoughby (David), and Mickey Wilkerson (Vicki); grandchildren, Chet Willoughby, Nicole Dawson (Kalen), and Meagan Morris (Matt); great grandchildren, Brodie Dawson, Emma Dawson, and Carter Morris; sister, Josie Short; and brother, Jimmy Benson (Shirley).
In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by four sisters, Stella Tilley, Dorothy Highland, Dossie (Red) Cossey, and Losie (Black) Stewart; and four brothers, Lowell Benson, Carmel Benson, Donald Benson, and Bobby Benson.
