Nelson Frank Baer, 91, Mount Union, passed away January 10, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Born November 2, 1930, Huntingdon County, son of the late Harvey and Ruth (Snyder) Baer. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Harry on August 15, 1953 who proceeded him in death in 2017. Survived by children, Karen D. Goodman and husband, Tim; Pamela Houp and husband, Mark; Kimberly Sunderland and husband, Jesse; 9 grandchildren, Crystal Cramer and husband, Rob; Heather Himes and husband, Johnny; Amanda Hooper and husband, Jason; Bradley Houp; Bethany Houp; Ethan Miller; Grace Miller; Lantz Miller and Erica Sunderland; 4 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Diane Anders; and sons-in-law, Bill Morgan, and Stanley Wertz. He was proceeded in death by daughters Deborah Wertz, Trina Morgan and brother R. Max Baer. Mr. Baer was a graduate of Mount Union High School Class of 1949. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Baer was the owner and operator of Harry’s Texaco for many years. He would later work and retire from SCI Huntingdon as an Auto Mechanic Trade Instructor. Mr. Baer was a member and former board member of the Allenport United Methodist Church. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge #688, Mount Union. Mr. Baer enjoyed hunting, fishing, throwing horseshoes, playing cards, and bowling in his free time. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Friends and family will be received on Friday January 14, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday January 15, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, Joseph Barrett, officiant. Interment with military honors to follow at Mount Union Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
