Nelson Heraldo is synonymous to a true gentleman. Uncle’s life with Auntie Viola will always make me believe that fairy tales and dreams come true. Uncle and Auntie built their life on faith, love, and trust and the adoration they have for each other in marriage multiplied four-fold through their children and grandkids.

Uncle, our Lord called you home too soon and your absence is truly felt. You are a great role model for how we should all live and love. Though you are missed, I see your charm, gentle soul, and tender smile in the eyes of my four cousins. Our families are eternally blessed having had you in our lives.

Thank you Uncle Nelson for all your smiles, jokes, and support throughout the years. You will be surely be missed by the whole family, but your legacy lives on through your sacrifice you've made for the family.

God called and you came. Thank you for the family that you and Auntie raised. Thanks for the memories and the love you leave with us; you will not be forgotten. I will remember your quiet confidence and the smile on your face, but mostly how you made us all feel how important it was to be Family.

The first time I met you, I saw a very happy family oriented person. The first time I called on you for assistance, you came through with no reservation and afterwards told me "Call me whenever you need a helping hand." At that time, I looked at you and your eyes told me that your words were pure and sincere. I thank you Nelson not just for all the things you did for us, but more importantly, the way you opened your heart for me and my family. We will truly miss you.

I will never forget the day Viola announced her engagement to Nelson. She was bright-eyed and flushed with happiness introducing her handsome groom, who dressed smartly in his white navy uniform. It was a family affair when they were married. I was their maid of honor, my sister, Lita, a bridesmaid, my nephew, Mark, a ring bearer, my niece, Ellen, a flower girl. My dad, Frank, walked the lovely bride down the aisle, standing in for Viola’s dad, Santiago. I also stood as their maid of honor when they renewed their vows at their silver anniversary.

Through Nelson’s life, we all experienced his kindness through family activities like parties, prayers, camping, and golf lessons. He was always willing to lend a hand to fix an electrical problem or make you feel better by sharing a story or his gentle smile. Always compassionate toward his wife, their STAR kids, and grandchildren, I don’t think there was ever a time I saw him loose his patience or become angry. Though, I did hear the STAR kids were later renamed the RATS.

Nelson was a true example of God's unconditional love. He accepted his illness and never complained through his treatments. He remained faithful and strong, always finding a way to celebrate each day.

My dear cousin, Viola, and my niece and nephews, Nelson will truly be missed. But, I see him in your eyes, faces, and smiles. His inspiration for life, lives in all of you.

I was privileged to know this family in the year 2008 and was a recipient of their kindness and hospitality. After 4 years, it pains me that Bro Nelson has passed away.
I saw in this dear brother a desire to know the truth. The timesthat we spent together in the car, at mcdonalds, in the house, was a time spent talking about God and how we can serve Him. We are now poorer in life with his absence

Dear Papa,
I hope you have fun at heaven. We will miss you while you're up with God. You are the greatest Papa. I love when you tickle me and give me a big kiss. I hope we can go fishing together in heaven. I know that wherever I go you will follow me. I love you.

For every sacrifice you made to live in the land of opportunity... For teaching me that hard work and perseverance equals success... For your incredible love you've shown me- making me feel like your princess. I pray that God continues to bless you for all that you have done for me. I love you Dad and always will. I thank God for giving me you as my father and my hero. You will always be with me. I will never forget you because I look like you and have the same passions as you. Enjoy heaven, and I know I will be in your arms again someday.
Your Daughter,

Dearest Papa Nelson,

It's hard to believe that you're no longer physically here. I keep waiting for you to walk into the kitchen or come back from the restaurant bathroom. I keep looking for you to jump in and help tell the stories about your life and look at the pictures we've found.

Its all so surreal. I miss your smile, the way you tell jokes and stories, and your laugh. I am completely broken hearted and in disbelief. I thought we had more time with you. More time to learn about finances, travel, family, and life. It breaks my heart when I think of how you won't physically be here to watch our children be born. However, I know that they will be able to feel your love, tickles, and kisses through Stephen. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful man in my life who takes after his amazing father. Thank you and Mama V for raising a beautiful, good hearted man. He is everything and more and I see you in him. I know you will be with us every step of the way and will lend your helping hand when we need it most.

Thank you for welcoming me into your family with open arms and a warm heart. I appreciate the support you showed both me and Stephen, no matter how different our decisions and choices were. You and Mama V have both inspired me to live a lighter life with more laughter, a bigger heart, a strong mind, and a kind soul. Thank you for setting a wonderful example and I hope that Stephen and I will make you proud. I love you and miss you terribly. I hope to be comforted by you in my dreams.

peace & love,

Viola Heraldo

To My Beloved Husband,

Ir meant so much to know I can depend on you, to know you were always there for me when I needed encouragement, understanding, and advice.

I really enjoyed the times we spent together - good and bad. You were dearly loved and you made a big difference in my life. Your love for me is treasured.

You're the only one for me and that's how it's supposed to be - through each joy, triumph, spat or fuss.

I am yours and you were mine. I'll always love you. 'Til we meet again.

I love you.

Dad,
It pains me to think how little time I had to be your daughter-in-law, but in that time, I am comforted to have been given the chance to care for you as I would my own father. You inspire me, in the way you lived your life with such vigor and loved everyone with such passion. Even in the most challenging moments, you never despaired, for your faith gave you strength and in turn you were the strength for others. When your body was hurting, your mind was thinking about everyone else's state of being. I have not had the opportunity to see you wearing as many hats as I know you do, but I have seen a faithful husband, a loving father, a caring uncle, and a joyous grandfather. You are who I hope to help Tim become. You are who I hope my children grow up to mimic. You are more than words can describe for so many, and you will not be forgotten, but celebrated, for we were blessed to have been chosen to know you and be loved by you. Rest now, dad. We'll meet you at the party.

Dad, there's no way I can put into words how blessed I am to have you in my life. Though you departed us physically, your spirit lives on through everyone's lives you have touched. You will be remembered as a constant source of love, guidance, strength, and laughter. You are a gift from God's own hands, delighting all in your presence.

I wish you well in your new everlasting life, for you have returned to your Creator. I will share our memories we had together with my own children, who will receive the same love that you have shown us all.

Like you, I am a man of few words. And also, like you, I believe in quality over quantity. Even though you entered God's kingdom earlier than we expected, you lived each day sharing your love with your most prized possession–your family. I love you Dad. Always.

Your son,
Tim
