Nelson Lee Sarver, 83 of Herrick, Illinois died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 3:14 AM at his residence in Herrick. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church of Herrick with Jay Huddleston officiating. Visitation will also be Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in First Christian Church of Herrick beginning at 9:00 AM until time of Service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green Township, Fayette County, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Cemetery.
Nelson Lee Sarver was born Thursday, June 16, 1938 in Bowling Green Township the son of Erman Roy and Dorothy Adaline (maiden name Evans) Sarver. He was raised in Herrick attending Herrick Grade School and Herrick High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1957. Nelson served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Nelson Lee Sarver married Carol Lea Berryman on June 3, 1961 in Effingham Christian Church. Nelson was employed for Firestone in Decatur from 1969 until 1996, when he retired. He was also the previous owner of the car wash, gas station, and restaurant in Herrick. Nelson was a member of the First Christian Church of Herrick and the American Legion. He was previously on the Bowling Green Township Board and was Precinct Committeeman.
Nelson Lee Sarver is survived by his Daughter: Nina L. Thompson (Darren) of Herrick; Granddaughters: Amber (Tyler) Reatherford of Pana and Briana Sarver of Cowden; Grandsons: Nathan Thompson of Herrick and Caleb (Alexis) Sarver of Herrick, 5 Great-Grandchildren, and a Special Friend: Pat Riley. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife: Carol Lea Sarver, who died July 24, 2008, and Son: Curtis L. Sarver.
