Nelson Edward Wagner, 74, of Auburn, Michigan passed away on September 15, 2025 at his home. He was born on May 21, 1951 in Midland, Michigan to the late Edward and Leone Opal (Gay) Wagner. Nelson married the love of his life, the late Karyn (Ames) Wagner on November 27, 1985 they shared 36 loving years together until she preceded him in death on October 15, 2021.
Nelson grew up in Midland. He attended Midland High School, graduating in 1969. He started his career in automotive services at Firestone in Midland, before becoming an electrician for the Bay County Department of Water and Sewer, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 2010. He enjoyed golfing, home improvement projects, and trips to the casino. After retirement he cared for his wife until her passing.
Nelson is survived by a daughter, Norma Stuart of Midland, grandsons Daniel Athey and Dawson Walker of Midland, siblings Karmalee Holmes, Shonda (Ron) Hansen, Kevin Wagner all of Midland and Kerry (Kathi) Wagner of Port Huron. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and great great nieces & nephews.
Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Karyn Wagner, son, David Walker, grandson TJ Walker, parents Edward & Leone Wagner, brother-in-law John Holmes, sister-in-law, Luanne Wagner, nephews Ken Wagner and Kyle Wagner.
Nelson has been cremated per his wishes, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on November 1, 2025 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with Pastor Don Duford officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until time of service.
