Nicholas Darren DeCibus, 56, of Woodbridge passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Born in Perth Amboy, Nicholas was a longtime resident of Woodbridge and was employed as a Corrections Officer at East Jersey State Prison in Rahway and later went on to become a Sheriff with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department. He also worked for and recently operated the family business, Woodbridge Moving Company. Nicholas was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and many trips to upstate New York. Nick was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan who enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends along his journey through life.
Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Santina DeCibus. Surviving are his siblings, Louis DeCibus and Danielle Gallop with her husband Kenneth. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Brooke Gallop, Alina DeCibus who is also Nick's Goddaughter, Aubrey Gallop, Morgan Gallop and Louis DeCibus, II.; stepmother who cared for him, Joanne Tomacheck; stepsister who lived with him and cared for him, Lisa Tomacheck; stepbrother, Anthony Tomacheck; aunt, Carole Coleman; his favorite cousin, Kelly Coleman and sister-in-law, Elaine Vastano along with many other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Port Reading. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
