Nicholas Maiale Esq.

I met Nick about four years ago, as his Physical Therapist at the start of the pandemic. From there, I spent almost every Saturday for the next four years helping Nick maintain his strength, and we shared our August birthdays together for dinner. We talked about any, and everything during this time. We spoke about our lives, the world around us, and bickered over sports every week. Nick was my favorite person to talk sports with, even though he was a Celtics and Braves fan. I made sure to remind him every week he is from Philly, and should be a Philly sports fan.

What started off as a professional relationship, quickly transformed into much more. Nick became a dear friend, a mentor, and someone who's resilience has shifted the way I live my own life. His life was a testament to what it truly means to be strong. He faced challenges most people couldn't even understand. He met each day with courage and determination, and refused to be limited by his MS. He achieved everything he set out to do from the moment he stepped foot onto Penn State's campus. I had the privilege of attending his naming ceremony, for the "Nick Maiale Student Government Leadership room" with him. I was astounded by the admiration and respect with which he was celebrated.

Nick changed my life, and I am a better person for having known him. His strength and perseverance have inspired me, and his spirit will always push me to be the best version of myself, despite any obstacles that come my way. He will be greatly missed, but his name and legacy will never be forgotten.
