Nicholas Minerva Obituary

Nicholas J. Minerva, 44, of Punxsutawney passed away unexpectedly from an accident on October 22, 2025. Nick was born on June 10, 1981, in Jeannette. He was a graduate of Penn Trafford High School (class of 2000) and the University of New York College at Purchase. Nick worked in management within the hospitality industry for many years. Nick made friends through all his life travels. Through just sitting down and listening or using his twisted sense of humor, strangers gravitated to him. He never forgot a birthday once he knew yours. He found solace and deep spiritual connection during hikes in nature. Nick had a way with all animals, especially his cats, his childhood dog, Ewok, and all the birds that lived in his sanctuary. He was a fitness fanatic who enjoyed a good evening beer to relax. In his younger years, Nick enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, riding dirt bikes, and playing competitive soccer. Later in life, Nick took up boxing, training at Helman's Gym and fighting in matches throughout the Pittsburgh region. He eventually moved to New York where he modeled for Ducati Motorcycles. He enjoyed story and script writing in his spare time and bar hopping in New York City with all his friends. Nick is survived by his loving parents Betty and Jim Minerva, sister Jonna (Brandon "Ortie") Nedley, nephew & niece, Carson and Payton whom he loved dearly and acted just like them by being a manchild, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He held a special bond with his maternal grandparents, Millie and Jack Bonifati, along with his aunt and uncle, Michele and Rod Duckworth. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Marilyn Morrison and Gene & Beverly Minerva who were all waiting for his arrival in heaven. Family and friends will be invited to a Celebration of Life on a future date. Burial will be private. Money was not of significance to Nick, and he chose to share it with others in need. Either it was giving the homeless a meal, asking his father to give someone a job, or sending money to "Free Willy", Nick always put others and animals first. In remembrance of Nick, his generosity, and huge heart, when you hear the bell ring during this holiday season, be sure to put an extra dollar in the Salvation Army Red Kettle, a favorite of his when growing up. Services are entrusted to the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. For online condolences please visit www.snyderfuneralservices.com.

I am so sorry to hear of this devastating loss. Nick and I were friends in MS and HS. I have fond memories of ski trips and hanging out with friends. Nick had the best laugh. My thoughts are with the family.
