Nicholas Paxton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simple Cremation & Funeral Services on Mar. 2, 2026.
Nicholas Ian Paxton, a beacon of warmth and kindness, was born on November 20, 1985, in Silvis, Illinois, and left this world far too soon on February 9, 2026. Nick, as he was affectionately known, was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished son, and a loyal friend. He touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will forever be a guiding light for his family and friends.

Nick was the beloved son of Elizabeth Paxton and the late Richard Paxton. He was a proud sibling to Noel (Michelle), Sarah Lucas, Nathaniel (Darci), Brett (Stephanie), Eric (Teresa), and Alexander (Becca), each of whom shared a special bond with their brother that was built on love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He was predeceased by his father Richard, his brother Anthony, and his grandparents on both sides, all of whom he loved dearly.

In his professional life, Nick made a lasting impact in the scaffolding industry. Known for being the first voice of the morning, his tone often set the day's mood, whether it promised fun or hard work. A leader by nature, Nick shared his knowledge generously, teaching others the right way to do things while correcting them with kindness. His strength, both physical and moral, was admired by his colleagues, many of whom considered working alongside him for a decade an amazing experience. The scaffold world will surely feel his absence deeply.

Beyond his career, Nick's greatest joy was his family. Married to his soul mate, Bethany, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and laughter. Together they raised two beautiful children, Jude and Bella, affectionately known as "Jude the Dude" and "Bella Bean." Nick was the kind of father who delighted in creating heartwarming memories with his family, whether it was exploring natural parks, playing at playgrounds, swimming, or simply enjoying family fun. His devotion to Bethany was evident in their shared walks on local trails and the stories they created together, stories that will be cherished forever.

Nick's personality was magnetic; he had the rare ability to make you feel like the only person in a room full of a thousand. His compassion, willingness to listen, and honest heart made him a confidant and a friend to many. An artist at heart, Nick's creative spirit shone through in his guitar playing and his knack for tinkering on his truck. His smile, an award-winning beacon of warmth, was ever-present and contagious.

Born and raised in Illinois, Nick attended Riverdale Schools in Port Byron, where he laid the foundation for his future success. He was proud to be a Union Carpenter, a profession he embraced in the mid-2000s, but his most cherished roles were being a husband and father.

Nick is survived by his devoted wife Bethany, their children Jude and Bella, his loving mother Elizabeth, and his siblings and their families. His legacy of love and kindness will live on through them, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Nicholas Ian Paxton's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of living in the moment. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
