Nick Chaconas Obituary

He was the beloved husband and sweetheart of Doris (Kozak) Chaconas. Nick was born in Milwaukee to Michael and Athena (Spirakis) Chaconas on October 7, 1935.
Along with his wife of nearly 66 years, Nick is survived by his devoted daughters Stacy (Kelly) DeKeyser, Stephanie (Timothy) Mielke, Michaela (Anthony) Ristaino, and Nicki (Patrick) Hanley. He was the proud grandfather of Thomas (Sarah) DeKeyser, Steven (Jane Kelleher) DeKeyser, Michael Mielke, Athena Hanley, and Lydia Hanley; and great-grandpa to Luke DeKeyser. He was the loving brother of Spiro (Nancy) Chaconas, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Nick was friend and mentor to countless others.
He gave over 50 years of dedicated service to St. Bernadette parish in many roles, including parish trustee and longtime Fish Fry maestro. "What I do in my life," Nick once said, "I don't seek awards for. I plan to volunteer for as long as I am able." True to his word, he remained active in his duties until his very last days. He was a man of faith and decency, and will be missed terribly.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 4:30 PM, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 8200 West Denver Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 6:30 PM. Dinner to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Parish in Nick's name.
