Nick Cyktor Obituary

Nick E. Cyktor, 75, of West Newton, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at Jefferson Hospital, in Jefferson Hills. He was born Aug. 22, 1945, in Greensburg, son of the late John and Mildred Krofek Cyktor. After high school, Nick went on to Temple University to receive his bachelor of science in law enforcement science. He had many law enforcement jobs throughout his life, beginning with being a Pennsylvania state constable for more than 10 years. He worked as a federal marshal on their task force for six years. He worked at the West Newton Police Department for 10 years and then went on to retire from the Westmoreland County Sheriff's Department as deputy sheriff, where he put in more than 20 years of service. He was a former member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, in Yukon, and attended Holy Family Catholic Church, in West Newton, where he was an usher. He was very religious and was devoted to the rosary and blessed mother. Nick was a very hard worker and lived by faith and family. He enjoyed fly fishing, going for Sunday rides with his family, going to the casino and out to eat. He looked forward to sheriff's picnics and going to Mt. St. Macrina every year with his family. He was preceded in death by both parents, his loving wife, Mary Jo Jacobson Cyktor, and three brothers, John, Edward and Richard Cyktor. He is survived by one son, Nick Cyktor and wife, Kristy, of Orlando, Fla., two daughters, Kim Gray (Denny), of West Newton, and Tami Rothey and husband, Erik, of West Newton; four grandchildren, Brian Gray, Amanda Rothey, Brianna Gray and Alissa Rothey; and one brother, Ron Cyktor and wife, Carol, of West Newton. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Ronald A. Rich Jr., supervisor/FD. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 225 N. Second St., West Newton, with Father Dave Nazimek officiating. Interment will follow at the West Newton Cemetery in West Newton. In compliance with the CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 20 people will be permitted at one time into the funeral home. Masks are required to be worn at all times while in the funeral home and social distancing is required. Anyone wishing to come into the funeral home for visitation is required to stay in their vehicle until allowed to enter the funeral home by a parking lot attendant.
