Nick Regon Obituary

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - William Nick Regon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday February 9, 2026, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 2, 1935, in Raysal, West Virginia, and lived a life characterized by dedication, love, and service to his family and community.

Throughout his career, Nick served as an electrician in Dayton, Ohio, working with several respected companies, including Angel Manufacturing, Durion, Chrysler, and Brainerd. His expertise and commitment to his craft were matched only by his steadfast support for his loved ones. Nick also proudly served two tours in the U.S. Army, where he was an electrician during the reconstruction of Germany, notably serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Nick was not just skilled in his trade; he was also an exceptional cook. Fondly remembered for his handiwork in the kitchen, he took great joy in preparing delightful meals for holidays, family gatherings, and cherished friends. His warmth and talent fostered close family ties that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of sharing a meal with him.

He was very proud to have dual citizenship in Italy, where his father was born. Also, he enjoyed watching rocket launches at Cape Canaveral and from his front porch, in Florida.

A quiet and helpful man, Nick was ever ready to lend a hand to family and neighbors alike. He was a devoted member of Crestview Baptist Church in Dayton, Volusia County Baptist Church in Florida and later of Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville, where his faith was a pivotal part of his life. He had a very charitable heart and consistently donated to St Judes, CRMC Hospital Foundation, and Samaritan's Purse.

In addition to his spiritual commitments, he had a profound appreciation for nature, hiking many state and national parks. An avid bird watcher, Nick found joy and tranquility in the simple pleasures of life. He was a member of the Audubon Society for many years and was dedicated to feeding the birds daily.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Chloe Estelle Regon, whom he married on Valentine’s Day in 1958. Today we are celebrating what would have been their 68th wedding anniversary. Together they raised three wonderful children: Nick Regon Jr., Debbie Baker (Dennis), and Denise Regon. Nick leaves behind his sisters, Mary Regon Compton and Alice Regon, along with a sister-in-law, Darlene Hale. The legacy of his love continues through his grandchildren, Britney Regon, Lauren Baker, Ryan Baker (Susie), and Derek Regon (Amber), and great-grandchildren, Austin and Bradley Baker, Elizabeth Dewberry, Emmitt Hammons, Derek Regon Jr., Elaina Regon, Liam Regon, and Madelyn Bills, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Nicola Rigoni Regon and Mada Russ Regon, and his siblings, Delores Altizer, Douglas Regon, and Bobby Jo Regon. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will always live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A funeral service to honor Nick will be on his and Chloe's 68th anniversary on Saturday February 14 at 2pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Lowhorn will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday from 1 - 2p.m.

Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share condolences and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
