Ronald Franz Obituary

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Ronald (Ronnie) August Franz, age 51 of Cookeville, passed away on Monday March 23, 2026, at his residence after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born on January 27, 1975, in Lakeland, Florida, Ronnie’s life was marked by love, humor, and a dedication to those he loved.

Ronnie worked as a handyman for Buckner Properties in Cookeville, where he enjoyed interacting with many people. However his commitments extended far beyond his work. Ronnie's energetic personality attracted others to him and he was quick to make a joke or share a laugh with those in his circle. Friends and family will remember his quick wit and infectious sense of humor. He was often able to make others laugh and those times are cherished memories.

Ronnie enjoyed sports, especially playing softball and coaching his son, Riley, and many other players in baseball. He also found great pride in watching his daughter, Kendyll, play volleyball. He found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, and enjoyed spending time exploring area parks and trails like Burgess Falls and Rock Island. You could often find him outside in the evenings with Riley and Kendyll playing wiffle ball or corn hole when the weather was nice.

Ronnie was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. He found strength in his faith, and shared his love for God with others during his appointments and with caregivers. His purpose over the last year and a half was to share God’s salvation and grace with those around him.

Ronnie is survived by his son, Riley Franz, and daughter, Kendyll Franz, both of Cookeville; his father, Robert Franz, of Auburndale, Florida; his brother, Richard Franz, and sister-in-law, Dawn, of Winter Haven, Florida; his nieces, Madelyn and Morgan Franz; and the mother of his children, Jennifer Franz, of Cookeville. He is also remembered with affection by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who knew him, including those who shared in his joys and supported him through his final days. His mother, JoAnn Franz, preceded him in death.

A visitation to honor Ronnie will be held on Thursday April 2 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. It will be an opportunity for family and friends to come together to celebrate Ronnie’s life and share their memories. A service and inurnment will take place at a later date at Auburndale Memorial Park in Auburndale, Florida.

Ronnie Franz’s legacy is one of love, courage, and laughter. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share condolences and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
